When considering Tibetan Mastiff breeding, there are several issues that affect the general outcome. For example, there is the possibility of creating a deficiency in some dogs which leads to health problems and behavioral problems in the resulting dogs.

Genetic Imbalance In A Dog

This is known as 'genetic imbalance'. To avoid this, breeders must carefully consider which traits they are looking for and do deep research on whether two different dog types actually are compatible with each other in an expected way.

The primary goal in breeding a Tibetan Mastiff to create a dog that is consistently well-balanced, physically strong, and conform to both the Breed Standard and American Club Animals' standards for dogs.

Illegal Tibetan Mastiffs

Observe that it is illegal to sell a TM that is not of the breed. Additionally, it is unethical to breed from untested stock with known genetic problems. Cross-breeding is another issue that has been debated. No reputable breeder knowingly sells a dog or mother to an irresponsible buyer who will not be able to provide for the proper care and nutrition afterwards.

Mastiff Temperament Investigation

An ethical Tibetan Mastiff breeder will first investigate for temperament and genetics. They will conduct temperament tests on parents to make sure that they are physically fit.

The most common tests are the Stride, the Color Standard, and the AKC registration. In addition, ethical breeders should avoid including dogs that have previously been involved in an injury or are known to have been abusive.
